- Solution Sensing

Solution Sensing is a unique mind-body approach to explore and discover solutions. This way of working eases the decision-making process and allows you to take ownership of your preferred future. During the past 10 years, I started integrating my decades of yoga practice and study with the Solution Focused Approach. I observed clients ease into difficult decision making when mind and body blended to create mindset shifts.

  • 01. Transition Coaching

This is a process in which the client addresses present and future circumstances and desires. Past issues are acknowledged within this context. Solutions are sought and addressed, rather than focusing on problems.

  • 02. Leadership & Team Coaching

Improve strategic decision making and relationships with stakeholders, work with individual and collective strengths to build strong relationships, improve time management skills and expand strategies for conflict resolution.

  • 03. Healthy Ageing and Functional Ability

Observing the changes of my own body and mind through the years, I have identified the importance of the transition phases of ageing.

  • 04. Body Reclaim

Body Reclaim is a trauma-sensitive yoga and somatic coaching programme for individuals or groups who are experiencing trauma or HAVE experienced relentless stress over time.

01. Transition Coaching

  • Throughout our lives we are faced with an ever-evolving landscape that impacts on us in diverse ways. How we transition from one phase to the next is of cardinal importance. Our decisions and actions today, creates our future.

My unique thoughtmap D.E.C.I.D.E. supports the coaching sessions and is also a tangible way to determine progress.

    • Dreaming: The stirring of change

    • Emerging: Embodying imminent transition and reaching outwards to the environment

    • Connecting: Engaging with the questions and uncertainties on an inner level

    • Integrating: Bringing own knowing and new awareness together in an embodied manner

    • Discovering: Exploring solutions and experimenting in a safe space

    • Evolving: With hope, energy and new learning.

In Solution Focused Brief Coaching, we co-create a purposeful conversation. This is a process in which the client addresses present and future circumstances and desires. Past issues are acknowledged within this context. Solutions are sought and addressed, rather than focusing on problems. One of the advantages of this approach is that the client moves towards his/her preferred outcome in a short (brief) period.

    • Focusing on solutions and not problems.

    • Evoking strengths.

    • Generating tangible outcomes.

    • Facilitating constructive transitions that will lay solid foundations for the future.

The movements and philosophy of Yoga enhance the body-mind experience and compliments my philosophy of Solution Focused Coaching.

    • It is a non-competitive and non-judgemental environment.

    • Peace can be found in the quiet spirituality.

    • Stretching your body goes hand in hand with expanding your mind.

    • Energy comes from breathing.

The process of change can in many instances be fraught with stumbling blocks. As your coach, I can support you through this process in a body-mind way. This creates space for you to realise your potential and to use the inherent tools that you have been equipped with.

02. Leadership & Team Coaching

  • What we’ve learned through a pandemic is that leadership is ever evolving and adapting to changing circumstances.

Leaders are now challenged in his/her/their different style of leadership, humanity in office, and agility and ability to make decisions. Leadership also reaches beyond the office and board room - leaders are encouraged to be aware of the challenges in nature, and work towards responsible sustainability options for the organisation, employees and stakeholders with regards to biodiversity and climate change.

Leadership is often a lonely role and coaching is a necessity for the leader of the future.

When you work with me we’ll explore your decision making skills, your relationship with time, communication strengths and also your personal well-being. You will find yourself energised, ready to explore new ideas, and have more time to align personal and professional outcomes.

  • Team coaching supports a team to work effectively towards goals and outcomes, build better relationships with stakeholders, and improve communications skills.

When you work with me we’ll introduce you to coaching skills that will improve strategic decision making and relationships with stakeholders, work with individual and collective strengths to build strong relationships, improve time management skills and expand strategies for conflict resolution.

As a South African, I grew up in a world of diversity and exclusion. Through academic studies and practical experience I’m aware of how our differences can preserve our humanity and bring us together in a spirit of joyfulness and positive possibility.

03. Healthy Ageing &
Functional Ability

  • I have always been captivated by life experiences as expressed by older people. Through my work as a pharmacist, and living in Hermanus, the district with the highest number of older people in South Africa, I have developed an ardent interest in ageing challenges, such as health. Observing the changes of my own body and mind through the years, I have identified the importance of the transition phases of ageing.

    Transition Coaching for Ageing

Your ‘healthspan’ impacts directly with your lifespan and informed transitioning is pivotal to managing challenges such as the burden of illness.

  • A client commented that his reason for seeking coaching at the age of 86 years was “I don’t have many peers to learn from, there is no textbook on how to age, and it is difficult to work through decision making processes by myself ”. Coaching helped him stay hopeful and live life joyfully till 90.

  • I have a special interest in medical coaching, notably for the aged, as one can often become overwhelmed when facing changes to your health, understanding diagnoses and treatments. It can be a confusing period of transition, decision making and coping with stress.

In VumaYoga, we focus on making yoga accessible to older persons and those living with health challenges. The groups are small. We work with awareness to strengthen the body and promote balance and flexibility. We also try to maintain existing ability and agility. The small group is companionable and this helps us to feel positive about ourselves and our bodies.

  • A delightful lady said that loss in ageing is not about dying – “it is about not being able to do what you’ve always been able to do”.

In our coaching sessions, I can support you in your process of loss and grief. It is important to me that we live joyfully and move to end of life in a kind environment.
